Respite

Lifestyles for the Disabled is dedicated to improving opportunities for developmentally disabled adults in Staten Island, New York. Our respite program offers them the opportunity to relax, pursue their interests, tend to other responsibilities, and much more. Meanwhile, participants are cared for by qualified, well-trained staff while they enjoy a range of unique experiences at our location and in the broader community.

On The Go

On the Go forms the core of our respite programming. Every Monday through Thursday from 3:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., participants in our Day Habilitation program have the opportunity to participate in a range of fun activities. They can choose between fitness and health initiatives, cooking, ceramics, basketball, woodshop, crafting, and so much more.

Saturday Respite

Respite is also available on Saturdays from October through June, between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., at the 884 Targee St location. On these days, participants are able to enjoy the same activities they’d enjoy with us on the weekdays, as well as occasional field trip opportunities to go to the movies, bowling, or the Staten Island Zoo.

Overnight Respite

Participants 21 years of age and older can attend these overnight experiences while under the supervision of qualified staff. The group stays in a hotel or resort and enjoy all the local area has to offer. Past trips have included a Dude Ranch, Villa Roma and Hershey. The overnight trips are in state and at times out of state.
