Cafes & Catering
Lifestyles for the Disabled has a mission of fostering a healthy and independent lifestyle for adults with developmental disabilities. Part of that involves providing nutrition services, which can help participants to maintain their personal nutrition and thrive. These services include The Lifestyles Caffè at our Willowbrook campus and the S.I. Zoo Cafe.
Part of our objective at The Lifestyles Caffè is to offer an occupational education to participants of our Day Habilitation program, through which they can gain hands-on work experience. Working at The Lifestyles Caffè teaches participants concepts such as:
- Culinary skills
- Meal planning and preparation
- How to cook healthy foods
- Serving patrons
- Working as a team
- And more.
At the Staten Island Zoo, our cafe offers lunch, snacks, and S.I. Zoo souvenirs throughout the day to all patrons of the zoo. Like at The Lifestyles Caffè, we place emphasis not only on serving great food but also fostering community participation in the individuals we serve.
