Fiscal Intermediary Services on Staten Island, New York
At Lifestyles for the Disabled, our team offers fiscal intermediary (FI) services for individuals and families enrolled in Self-Direction programs. The Self-Direction model empowers adults with developmental disabilities to decide which support services they want to receive, who delivers them, and when to receive them. As part of these programs, recipients of care are required to select an FI to handle their administrative and billing support, which is where our team can help.
In recent years, interest in Self-Direction has increased on Staten Island, meaning the need for local FIs has also gone up. To ease the Self-Direction process for area families, Lifestyle for the Disabled offers comprehensive FI services. To get started, interested parties need to fill out a fiscal intermediary application.
Fiscal Intermediary Defined
A fiscal intermediary is a person, group of people, or business that is in charge of paying the relevant support expenses accrued by individuals who receive Self-Direction care. Specifically, FIs are responsible for managing their clients’ individual support budgets by providing authorized payments to their clients’ personal vendors.
FIs are a required part of Self-Direction because they help individuals navigate through the unfamiliar territory of billing, tax preparation, and more. Plus, they are also available to call when questions and concerns arise, ensuring that people who require special services remain supported throughout the entire Self-Direction process.
Our Fiscal Intermediary Services
