Respite offers participants an opportunity to socialize with their peers through recreational settings. Lifestyles looks to enhance the individual’s lives by providing a unique experience both at our on site locations and in the community. It provides relief to the primary caretaker while families can be assured their loved one is with qualified and trained staff.
Monday – Thursday 3 pm – 5:30 pm; transportation provided home.
On the Go is for individuals 21 and older that attend Lifestyle’s Day Habilitation program. Each day the participants are given several activities to participate in based on their interests. The Activities include Music Appreciation, Fitness, Health, Cooking, Media, Photography, Woodshop, Arts and Crafts and more.
Saturdays 10 am – 3 pm: September – June; participant morning transportation is available, families pick up is at 3 pm
Individuals ages 16 and older can attend the Saturday Respite program located at the 884 Targee Street location. The group will participate in various athletic games from basketball, kickball to relay races. In addition there are arts and crafts and cooking classes to attend. On occasion the group will take part in various community outings from the movies, bowling or the Staten Island Zoo.
This is community based activity where small to larger groups can enjoy all their local community has to offer. The groups may do a small trip to the movies or even larger outings to sporting events.
Participants 21 and older can attend these overnight experiences while under the supervision of qualified staff. The group will stay in a hotel or resort and enjoy all the local area has to offer. Past trips have included a Dude Ranch, Villa Roma and Snow Tubing.
Two weeks in August; Monday – Friday; participants will take a bus to and from the Camp.
Lifestyles provides the opportunity for two weeks for summer activity at Kamp Kiwanis in upstate New York. Kamp Kiwanis staff facilitates all activities while the Lifestyles staff and participants move from event to event. During their time there participants can enjoy a variety of offerings from fishing, swimming, dancing, basketball, volleyball, kickball, arts and crafts and movie events just to name a few. Every day has a themed event at night while they celebrate at the bonfire.
Two weeks in August, Monday – Friday; 9 am – 3 pm
This is a unique opportunity for High School students to explore their local community during their summer break. There are two weeks of scheduled activities from bowling, local zoos, Medieval Times, Liberty Science museums just to name a few. Participants must be dropped off and picked up at the 930 Willowbrook location.
Lifestyles has built a partnership with some local high schools to provide respite opportunities. The students get to participate in a variety of activities from cooking, academics, bowling, movies, dinners and shows to name a few.
